Of course, the most popular models are iPhones, Palms and Blackberries. Yet the craze for these mini computer gadgets is extending to even some off-brand company names. The demand for high end technology, such as what is found with smartphones, is very high so most all cell phones have some form of it. The convenience of having information at our immediate access is phenomenal – so much so that thousands of programmers have jumped on the opportunity to build unique applications specific to these full service mobile phones.

As with all other cell phones accessories rule the day and people seem to be fascinated with personalizing phones, with unique charms and bling, cell phone wallpaper, games and ringtones. In fact ringtones are a huge segment of the mobile phone market industry, and many buy ringtones to not only enhance and personalize the ringing of their phones with their favorite music hits, but also to enhance the callers experience, such as the case with Verizon ringtones for ringbacks, which play unique songs for individual callers as set the phone owner.

With a few presses of the thumb, the smarpthone provides, tons of games, databases, GPA systems, weather reporting programs, and even small encyclopedias. For the texting fan there is also a full keyboard.
The Appeal and Popularity of Smartphones
What is the core of their popularity? As mentioned, smartphones give us the ability to not only carry our data around with us where ever we go, it also gives us the ability to edit that data any place – any time. Today’s “reality” based society thrives ont he oportunity to capture and relive any and every moment. And we want to shar that with others. Smartphones provide the opportunity to communicate on a whole new level.
Doing all this while being completely mobile with a tiny portable device that can fit in a pocket is probably the biggest factor contributing to the great popularity of smartphones.
So, could this be a phase? That’s doubftul. The market for these devices extends from the highly technical to the average business man to the pre-teen socialite. The product crosses all demographics and thanks to decreasing costs – it sees no economic boundaries as well. The smartphone really delivers today’s need to do more and do it faster, while on the run!
