The original iPhone was pretty easy to unlock, but the 3G has a tough firmware to crack, making it a task to even think about unlocking it. There are some successful methods, but none are as easy as the original iPhone unlock. Unlocking has many benefits, but there is a lot of difficulty involved with it.

Apple made sure that the 3G would have a completely different firmware that would be tough to unlock. Apple wanted to crack down on unlocking, because when people unlock one of their phones apple loses a considerable amount of cash. So many people have different opinions about the apple iPhone 3G unlocking.

It has been prove that the special SIM card the iPhone 3G carries can be tricked into believing that it is a different type of SIM card. This has allowed some people to use the iPhone 3G under a different service provider.

The iPhone 3G has many unavailable uses that Apple did not want it to be used for. However, many hackers have found ways to utilize those features. Many people mess with the coding in the firmware directly, but this poses a risk for phone failure.

Its not cheap to unlock the iPhone 3G. Those who know how to do so will charge $100 or more dollars, and those that do not will pretend as if they do anyway and still charge you an arm and a leg. There are a limited group of people who are truly passionate about coming up with new methods for unlocking the iPhone, and eventually there will be more effective ways of doing so.

Since the iPhone 3G was so recently released, the unlocking methods are changing daily and growing. Eventually there will be more ways to unlock the firmware and utilize the hidden features. Hackers and those that make unlocking cell phones a hobby are quickly finding different ways to unlock the new apple iPhone 3G.

Closing Comments

While unlocking the iPhone 3G is currently almost out of reach for some, it is possible to unlock smaller features. Without risking anything, you can gain access to the ipod usage and internet without really messing with too much. It takes a lot of research on your part, and a bit of calculated risks.

by Chris Channing

With new cell phones and technology devices, comes hacking methods, unlocking methods, and other ways to customize your electronics. Unlocking the iPhone is significantly easier than unlocking the iPhone 3G. Especially if you have one of the first models of an iPhone.

It can be a complicated matter. Some companies are really easy going about activating unlocked phones, and others wont touch them, look at them, or even offer you anything. You run the risk of making your phone completely unusable. Luckily, the iPhone has many different ways to unlock it and utilize other benefits that it can offer.

One of the first things you can do for unlocking an iPhone is to manipulate its internal SIM card. This will allow it to connect to a specific providers services, without it knowing that it is not being used under the original company it was intended for. This option also comes with a special hardware for unlocking it.

The internal coding that is involved can also be manipulated so that it thinks it is still being used with the original company, but it is not. People choose to unlock their phones for many reasons. Maybe you want to use a different company, or maybe you just cant afford one companies service plans; either way unlocking an iPhone is a good way to take advantage of the special offers that it has.

Overall, the original iPhone is much easier to unlock than the iPhone 3G and newer iPhones. You have to be willing to wait, and have a lot of patience to figure out how to unlock it successfully, without damaging the phone, or getting into trouble. It can be a risk to unlock your phone, especially if you try it yourself and have no idea what you are really doing.

You can activate an iPhone, then get another phone in its place, leaving the iPhone not available for use, but it still thinks that it is in use. This will allow you to use the wifi option as well as the iPod option. It is a bit tricky to do, but it can be done with better results than other methods for unlocking.

Closing Comments

Unlocking an iPhone is a tricky process due to its newness and availability. Since iPhones are unique, they require unique unlocking techniques. Hackers and software developers are constantly coming up with new ways to unlock the iPhone with success.
<div

This means that your phone has built in software that will only allow your phone to be used on their network with their SIM card. Your cell phone can be unlocked by following a pretty simple process, allowing the freedom to roam between wireless carriers without the need to purchase a new phone.

The unlock process for your cell phone will depend on the make and model of your cell phone, but for the most part the process should be a simple standard procedure. The unlock code you will need to unlock your cell phone is uniquely linked to the IMEI of your cell phone, so be sure you have this number on hand before making any calls to get the unlock code.

1. A call to your cellular service provider might be the easiest and fasted option to unlocking your cell phone. If you explain to your provider your need to have an unlocked cell phone they should be willing to provide you with the code to unlocking your cell phone. For example, say you just bought a used blackberry cell phone and you plan on traveling internationally in the near future. Before leaving, you will need to have your cell phone unlocked; explaining this to your provider might be the best way to convince the customer service rep you speak to that you need your phone unlocked. If all goes well you will be provided with an unlock code that can be entered into your phone to successfully unlock the handset.

2. There are numerous internet sources to get the unlock code for your exact make and model of cell phone. The codes can be purchased from a number of vendors; a quick online search should provide you with several options. One of the most reliable ways might be to use eBay, using a seller with a good reputation will ensure that you get a usable code.

3. Consider taking your phone to a cell phone vendor. Often stalls in malls offer cell phone unlocking services. For a reasonable fee your phone will be unlocked and tested for you, ensuring that it works correctly.

Once you have your unlock code for your phone the process to actually unlock the cell phone is easy. Your code will be linked to your phone’s IMEI (identifying number that is unique to your phone), which means that your code will only work for your specific phone. For most makes of cell phones all you will need to do is put in a new SIM card – one for another mobile carrier. Your phone will alert you that the SIM you’ve just inserted is invalid, and will then prompt you to enter the unlock code. Simply key in the provided unlock code. Your phone should then automatically detect the settings of its new wireless provider.

Unlocking your cell phone is a simple process with great benefits to you, the user. Further, with proper planning and research, you can end up with a high quality phone, such as a refurbished treo, that is not locked to any network – allowing you the freedom to roam from network to network and take advantage of specials as they arise.

Related posts:

used blackberry can benefit the person looking for the latest and greatest in a cell phone. Technology in cell phones rarely changes very dramatically within the span of a year, so buying a used cell phone is a great option to save a few dollars while still getting the phone with all of the features you’re looking for.

Before buying a used phone, be very sure that the phone you are buying is one that is compatible with your current network. In North America there are two different types of technology employed by the major wireless carriers: GSM and CDMA.

Phones that are on GSM networks have a small removable card, known as a SIM card, inside. Phones that are on CDMA networks do not have SIM cards. A GSM phone cannot be used on a CDMA network, just as a CDMA phone cannot be used on a GSM network.

Before purchasing a used blackberry cell phone from a source other than your wireless provider, check what technology the phone is using.

Additionally, if you are buying a used GSM phone be sure that it is not locked to another GSM network; the refurbished blackberry cell phone you buy either needs to be locked to your existing network or it needs to be an unlocked unit.

Activating your phone on your network is a very simple process!

GSM Network
If you have purchased a used cell phone from your wireless provider chances are they will take care of the activation for you by removing the SIM card from your previous phone and placing it in the newer cell phone, or simply by activating a brand new SIM for the new phone.

If you have purchased your used cell phone from another source, and it is not locked to another wireless provider, activating your phone is as simple as removing the SIM card from your former phone and placing it in your newly purchased phone. If you do not yet have a SIM card for your phone you’ll need to either visit a mobile provider’s store or give them a call to request a new SIM card.

CDMA Network
Phones that are on a CDMA network are identifiable by the phone’s ESN number. The ESN number is a unique identifying number for your phone. The number is typically located on the phone under the battery. Before calling or visiting your provider, make sure you have your phone’s ESN number. Your account with them will be linked directly to your phone using that unique identifying number. A quick call or visit to a store location is all that is needed to get your phone activated with your network.

Once your phone has been activated with your wireless provider’s network you should be able to use it without any issues or concerns.

No related posts.
